Our courses are designed to enable you to confidently master the art
of painting and drawing whatever your level and choice of medium.
Each day we endeavour to paint some of the stunning local scenery, with
the carefully chosen locations becoming progressively more challenging
throughout the course. The subjects include fields and barns, lake
scenes, sea-scapes and village scenes.
Under the careful guidance of your tutor, Mac Mckay you will learn
something new and valuable each day in a sociable environment where
confidence and personal style are encouraged and developed.
We encourage mixed ability groups, after all painting should be a
challenge and a pleasure regardless of ability, and because we have a
maximum of 8 people in our groups, each guest is given plenty of
individual attention and tuition.
We paint for approximately 6 hours each day on location, with daily
hints and tips on how to approach each different subject.
(Demonstrations in watercolour.)
During the course, we will cover composition, perspective, tone,
materials, colour theory, colour mixing, and painting techniques..
So, whether you are a complete beginner or an experienced artist, you
will leave our course at Azur painting holidays with renewed confidence
and a comprehensive understanding of drawing and painting techniques in
your chosen medium, but more than either of these, we hope you will
gain a real passion for painting.

THE TUTOR
Mac Mckay is an artist of international acclaim who has earned his
living as an artist for twenty years in the UK.
He has successfully exhibited his work in many countries, and is
passionate about both painting and teaching, drawing upon his vast
experience in many mediums to teach his students.
As a working artist he understands the importance of both technical
ability and confidence in successful painting, and will be on hand
throughout your stay to help you progress, and with any specific areas
you wish to improve.
"My aim is to help my students to look at their subjects in a fresh
way and give them the confidence and ability that it takes to translate
this onto the page, with each person encouraged to develop their own
unique style. By the end of the course I hope that those who were absolute beginners
will be as amazed at their progress as I always am, and those who have
more experience will have made that all important leap to the next
level which is so hard to achieve on your own."
"What an excellent course this one proved to be! I enrolled as a total beginner and returned
home with five watercolors each painted in a different location in beautiful Provence.
Every aspect was first class, the tuition, the accommodation, the catering and the hosts.
I cant wait to go again."

on for a further few days on a B&B basis because I could not
drag myself away. The bastide and acommodation are wonderful,
Mac and Laura were such warm and friendly hosts. The location
was sensational and I will never forget the balmy evenings
sitting round the dinner table on the terrace and watching
a carpet of fire flies drift across the garden. I'll definitely
be paying another visit."
Janet Johnson, 2004
"We have attended quite a number of painting
holidays in the past few years, but Azur is definitely the
best . Good food, individual tuition, superb painting locations
and a great house atmosphere are the highspots."
