Items marked with an asterisk are required.

ALL items can be provided by us at the start of the course at below retail price.Please let us know in advance if you would like us to provide you with any materials.

• Sketch pad. A5 or A4*
• Pencil 2B*
• Charcoal
• Fixative
• Sharpener*
• Soft putty rubber (Eraser)*
• Drawing board. (We can loan these)
• Tissues/Towel
• Water container (We can loan these)
• Mixing palette with thumb hold*
• Bag to carry art materials.(small back-pack)*
• Box for paints etc. Empty video cassette box is ideal*
• Field easel (We can loan lightweight easels suitable for watercolour, pastels and sketching etc)
• Folding stool (We can loan these)
• Bag for above (We can loan these)
• Brushes. The best quality you can afford for your chosen medium.*(See below)
• Paints* (see below)

We paint outside in all weathers so below is a list of items we recommend:

• Sun hat*
• Sun cream*
• Fleece
• Waterproof jacket.
• Waterproof shoes or boots.

WATERCOLOUR PAINTS

We recommend the following for WATERCOLOUR only. ALL items can be pre-ordered:

• 4 sheets Watercolour paper. 200lb Cold pressed cut to quarter imperial (11"X15"). We recommend Bockingford paper.
• Winsor and Newton Sceptre gold brush series 101. Size 14 or 16
• Size 2 or 3 rigger
• Small natural sponge
• Large metal folding palette with large mixing area and thumb hold.
• Lightweight easel (We can loan you this)
• Folding stool (We can loan you this)
• Bag for above (We can loan you this)

I advise Winsor and Newton artist colour in tubes. 5ml or 14ml rather than pans. Students Cotman colours are a reasonably priced alternative.

A good basic Winsor and Newton artist colour palette would be:

• Winsor yellow or Aureolin yellow*
• Raw sienna*
• Light red*
• Burnt umber*
• Winsor blue(red shade)*
• Alazarin crimson*
• Vermillion hue*
• French ultramarine*
• Cerulean blue*

OIL/ACRYLIC/PASTELS/OTHER MEDIUMS

We recommend Winsor and Newton materials.
